I live a good 30 minutes from downtown Memphis and don’t make it down to the river that often but I’ve fallen in love with Harbor Town. Thankfully, a good friend of mine moved into this precious little area and gave me a reason to come check out what I’ve been missing.
We were up early Sunday morning & I was dying for some good food & a cup of Joe. (Why is it so much fun to call coffee, Joe? Did a guy named Joe come up with that idea?)
So we walked (drove) the .1 miles from her apartment to Café Eclectic. I’m somewhat jealous/grateful that I don’t live that close because I would drink my weight in their amazing toddy coffee! I asked the barista (another fun word) what the “toddy” included. She kindly informed me that the toddy is not some crazy, funky flavoring that makes the coffee extra special. It’s a very simple but effective 16 hour brew process that results in the smoothest tasting Joe this side of the Mississippi. I wish they would have brought me an IV instead of a straw so I could keep that stuff pumping all day. When my food arrived I convinced myself to remove my new found appendage, aka my straw, and try the scrumptious looking sandwich in front of me. Since this was my first time to Café Eclectic, I veered away from the typical biscuit & eggs and ordered the Funky Salmon. When in Rome right? Or Harbor Town
The Funky Salmon comes on the tastiest English muffin with Scottish cured salmon, cream cheese, spinach, tomato and cucumber! The salmon is “rare” but the combination of veggies and cream cheese is heavenly for those adventurous enough to try. I offered my friend a bite but secretly cheered inside when she declined. I did not want to share and devoured the entire muffin before she had time to finish saying “no”.
The coffee and sandwich came out to around $9. I appreciate any restaurant that offers a high quality product at an affordable price. Café Eclectic you rock! Honestly, I want to move to Harbor Town for a million reasons, but Café eclectic you are now on that list!
