You can’t say I didn’t warn you. I know when I don’t have a handle on the games and last week I didn’t. This week does’t get a heck of a lot easier which is part of the reason we are going to switch things up this week.
There are only two games this week and neither line particularly excites me. I will give my quick picks for those games momentarily. The difference for this week is that we are going to jump into the always exciting world of prop bets. That column will be up later this week.
For now here is what I see for the conference championship game lines…
New York Giants +2.5 over San Francisco
The statistics here can be manipulated to favor either side so I’m going with what I suspected might be the case last week. The Giants are a totally different and awesome team when they have a full rotation of healthy pass rushers. The pass rush of the Giants is unlike anything else in the NFL. Despite Alex Smith’s performance I think the Giants will get to him often and win this game straight up.
Baltimore +7.5 over New England
Man do I hate that half point. I have zero confidence in this pick. I flip flopped at least half a dozen times but ended on the belief that the half point makes this line too high. I think New England wins but Baltimore has been at it’s best when playing quality opponents this season. They have the tools to execute the needed formula to keep the game close. I think they keep it close enough.
